Pinellas County Schools will provide an overview of the growth of Advanced Placement in our district over the last six years and share the practices which resulted in significant growth of underrepresented student participation in AP classes. Our deliberate and intentional work from 2013 to 2018 resulted in greater than 25% increase to the total AP enrollment, 85% increase to black student enrollment and 49% increase to low socioeconomic student enrollment. Learn about the systemic approach taken to set realistic and attainable goals and the enhancements made to the AP Potential report to make it more user friendly for our schools. Hear from district and school-based administrators regarding systems for course selection, the internal and external professional development opportunities provided to insure teachers are equipped to serve an open access classroom, academic support for students and the funding model for AP programs in our district.
