This activity is based on an actual case of food poisoning that spread across 10 states in 2000. Participants will examine data from involved individuals, generate a hypothesis, and provide justification about the possible source of food poisoning. An experiment will then be designed and conducted using DNA gel electrophoresis to test the hypothesis. Results will be analyzed to determine if the hypothesis is adequately supported by the evidence.
