243 - Digging Beneath The Surface of The Areas of Focus in Pre-AP Algebra I

The newly launched Pre-AP Algebra I course promotes the following Areas of Focus to support both teacher practice and student learning: mastery of linear equations and linear functions, greater authenticity of applications and modeling, and engagement in mathematical argumentation. In this session, participants will review the Areas of Focus by examining evidence in Pre-AP Algebra I experiences, learn how to create similar experiences for their own students, and identify the intended effects of this horizontal alignment. Digging deeper in the horizontal alignment design features of the course, participants will connect their newly crafted examples with Pre-AP Shared Principles. Participants will leave the session with added tools and understanding that support both instruction and student learning.
