CAPT Gary W. Carter began working for the Indian Health Service in 1996, serving native peoples in Alaska, Washington, Montana, and New Mexico. He graduated from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 2002 with his Masters of Public Health and received his Certification in Infection Control in 2016. Currently he is the Principal Institutional Environmental Health Consultant for the IHS Environmental Health Support Center, primarily engaged in instructional design and talent development activities among infection preventionists, safety managers, and environmental health staff IHS-wide. His areas of expertise include adult learning methodology, organizational development, industrial hygiene, accreditation preparedness, infection control, emergency management, environmental compliance, fire and life safety, and occupational health and safety.
