Denise Leaptrot is an IP/Epidemiologist with the CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion Surveillance Branch, where she is a member of the NHSN Protocol and Validation Team. In this role, she provides consultation and technical assistance regarding surveillance and serves as the subject matter expert for MDRO/CDI and SSI surveillance/reporting. She has 25+ years combined experience encompassing healthcare epidemiology and , infection control/prevention within public & private healthcare arenas. Denise holds a Master’s degree in Administration with focus on Management & Statistics, Specialty in Microbiology, and Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology credentialed by the American College of Clinical Pathology. She is CIC certified for >25 years and is an active member of national & local APIC, as well as state infection control organizations. Denise is a published author of numerous journal articles with focus on MDROs and Healthcare Associated Infections.
