Julianne L. Baron, PhD, RBP is vice president of Research & Development and Regulatory Affairs at Special Pathogens Laboratory. An infectious disease microbiologist, Dr. Baron has more than 10 years of laboratory research experience in immunology, molecular biology, and infectious diseases, including Legionella and other waterborne pathogens. She evaluated monochloramine’s effects on microbial ecology in the first long-term application of monochloramine in a hospital hot water system in the United States. Dr. Baron has presented research at The Eighth International Conference on Legionella and the American Society for Microbiology conferences. Her work appears in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In 2016, she completed the prestigious National Biosafety and Biocontainment Training Program postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health to support high and maximum containment laboratories. Dr. Baron has experience ensuring regulatory compliance for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the CDC Federal Select Agent Program.
