Benjamin D. Galvan-Anderson, MLS (ASCP), is an Infection Preventionist working for the Advocate Aurora Health system based at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. After achieving certification in Medical Laboratory Science through the American Society for Clinical Pathology in 2015, Benjamin started his professional journey in the clinical microbiology lab at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Recognizing a calling to the field of Infection Prevention, he began his career with Advocate Aurora Health in 2018. As an Infection Preventionist, he plays a vital role in the inter-disciplinary effort for providing a safe, infection-free environment to patients, visitors, and hospital team members alike. Operating within the 10th largest integrated health system in the country, he plays an important role in standardizing work processes through research of evidence based practice and inter-disciplinary collaboration. He currently lives in Chicago with his husband, Enrique, a high school English teacher at La Lumiere School in Indiana.
