Environmentally minded communities are rejecting traditional hard engineering solutions of walls and barriers for sea-level rise adaptation. Hear from designers working with the soft infrastructure of sediment in the Bay Area, reconnecting upstream and downstream ecosystems, and unmaking legacy U.S. Army Corps of Engineers infrastructure toward an ecologically and socially resilient future.

Learning Objectives:

• Expand awareness about the role landscape architects are playing in climate change adaptation planning and the design of sedimentary systems, traditionally engineering-dominated domains.
• Learn about new design methodologies and tools used to design functional sediment systems using a project case study with multiple research techniques and partners.
