This session will provide attendees with the skills necessary to accomplish synthesis of autonomously captured unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) data sets from individual project sites for use with research, analysis, and design.

A UAV (drone) is not required to participate in this session, although it is preferred that the attendees have familiarity and background with drone operation and the required skill set. An FAA Part 107 license is not required to attend this session.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand in depth the advantages and shortcomings of working with UAVs and self-collected data.
• Learn how to use UAV-derived imagery to create 3-D topographic models and photogrammetric imagery.
• Develop relevant skills to conduct analyses on self-collected data and be able to discern the fidelity of such data being collected in preparation for research or project use.
• Explore methodologies and reasoning for each tool used in creating your data-sets and models.
• Gain digital insights into using UAVs relative to the practice of landscape architecture.
• Establish strategies for future use of collected data for each participant.
