Using the case study of paving design, the participants will develop generative patterns, typically considered complex, aided with parametric solutions. The workshop will highlight the opportunities and challenges of scripting technology, from initial idea generation to final practical application. The results will go beyond graphic development and into constructability.

Attendees will be required to bring a laptop with Rhino 6 (trial acceptable) and PDF viewing software downloaded and installed. Attendees should also bring a mouse and be able to accept a USB flash drive for file sharing.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the opportunities available with parametric tools.
Develop a parametric strategy for simplifying complex problems.
Design a script that is responsive to parameters and constraints.
Apply scripting technology to real-world installations.
Develop strategies to make complex designs constructable.
Ensure that initial ideas are carried through to the final product.
