Food is embedded in local ecosystems, cultures, and land use. As such, it exhibits untapped potential in landscape architecture. This session will explore the interface between food, ecology, and culture (i.e., ecological foodways) and opportunities for design interventions to positively affect food systems In a changing climate.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand climate change impacts on food systems and the landscapes that support them.
• Learn about how ecological foodways are embedded in landscapes, cultures, and the history of land usage.
• Learn about a landscape intervention affecting ecological foodways within indigenous communities of Northern Canada.
• Explore ways to synthesize ecological foodways and landscape architecture for design applications.
