A panel of nutrition scientists, including members of ASN and FENS, will discuss ethical and methodological standards in nutrition research. An overview of the best practices from the Best Practices in Nutrition Science to Earn and Keep the Public’s Trust, released in January 2019, will be included in this session along with the opportunity for stakeholder input on implementation of these best practices. This panel will seek active audience input to entail a wider discussion of potential topics and needs to better ensure trust in nutrition science which ASN and FENS could collaborate on. For example: should ASN and FENS collaborate to develop guidelines for managing and conducting nutrition research funded by entities at interest, comprehensive conflict of interest disclosure statements, and/or a code of conduct for nutrition scientists similar to other fields such as medicine from which the nutrition science community as a whole may profit.
