Public Health Educator

Dr. Maya Maroto is a Public Health Educator at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). Dr. Maroto works to develop, implement, and evaluate consumer nutrition and food safety education initiatives at FDA. Prior to joining FDA, she worked on nutrition education projects at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and has a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Morgan State University, a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Auburn University. Dr. Maroto has presented at various national conferences including the American Public Health Association, the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, and the Society for Public Health Educators and is pleased that a recent co-authored manuscript on people’s knowledge of their personal calorie needs was accepted for publication in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
