This educational session is designed to focus on current challenges in patient care and practice management from the perspective of how the radiation oncologist can develop competency in emotional intelligence strategies to effectively deal with the daily issues that arise. The focus will be on providing knowledge to attendees so they can practice these skills post ASTRO. Given the prevalence of increasing stress and burnout in medicine, this session will focus on understanding some of the precipitants at the patient and practice level in order to develop skills that will provide effective management.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the common conflict management styles and assess how best to incorporate in the clinical setting with patient care.
- Differentiate the emotional intelligence competencies and determine how best to apply when dealing with challenges inside the radiation oncology practice.
