Nephrolithiasis accounts for a large portion of the Urologist’s practice. Yet, medical stone evaluation and treatment remains an enigma to many. Medical stone therapy should be an important part of the general urologist's curriculum, especially in light of the new AUA Guidelines on Medical Management.
The proposed Instructional Course will incorporate the 2014 Medical Stone Guidelines with practical case studies that help to illustrate various metabolic abnormalities, along with strategies to prevent even the most complex metabolic picture. A comprehensive pathophysiologic review, practical metabolic evaluation and evidence-based treatment recommendations will allow one to master medical stone management and incorporate these techniques into their routine practice. This course will be unique in that it incorporates a didactic approach that facilitates the learning process through participant-lecturer interaction. The use of automated response system and opportunities for questions will serve as a tool to enhance an effective, lively learning environment.
