052IC: Complex Pelvic Reconstruction: Use of Flaps

The course will present the use of different flaps used in pelvic reconstruction, including to treat vesico-vaginal fistula, urethral reconstruction, vaginal stenosis and recurrent radiation fistula. These will include vaginal flaps, Martius flaps, peritoneal flaps, rotational and island inner thigh flaps and perineal flaps. The course will include case presentations, and for every procedure a video will demonstrate the technique details.

 

Learning Objectives:

• Review the basic and complex techniques of flaps used in vaginal reconstructive surgery
• Integrate the use of vaginal flaps, Martius flaps, suprameatal urethrolysis, retropubic Martius flap, rotational inner thigh flaps and peritoneal flaps into practice
• Perform techniques to cover and repair complex vaginal defects like vesico-vagina and rectovaginal fistula
