Introduction: W configuration ileal neobladder was first described by Hautmann in 1986. Outcomes of this diversion approach are well established. Since the introduction of robots to the surgical field, no attempt has been made for intracorporeal W neobladder (W NB) diversion. We here by describe our initial experience of a total robotic intracorporeal W NB diversion.
Methods: Since 2016, we have adopted a total intracorporeal technique for W NB. Twenty patients since then have undergone W NB. Here by describe our step by step technique for diversion, operative and perioperative outcomes.
Results: The mean age of the patients was 61 yrs. Â± 9, BMI was 31 Â± 5. The mean overall console and diversion times were 434 minutes (372 , 467) and 214 minutes (185 ,246) respectively. Mean estimated blood loss was 200 ml (125, 268), and only one was transfused. Mean hospital stay was 7 Â± 4 days. Diversion related complications occurred in four patients, two patients developed ueteroileal stricture with subsequent hydronephrosis, and the others developed a urinary fistulae. All patients were managed by endoscopy or robot-assisted.
Conclusions: We here by describe the first series of intarcorporeal NB diversion.
