Glickman Urological and Kidney Inst
Dr. Wood is staff urologist at Cleveland Clinic Glickman Urological Institute and Associate Professor at Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After training at the Cleveland Clinic, she joined the faculty and is currently a member of the Center for Genitourinary Reconstruction. Her area of subspecialty is genitourinary reconstruction with a focus on adults with urological congenital conditions, like exstrophy spectrum, cloacal anomalies, and hypospadias, among others. She established a multidisciplinary clinic for adults with myelomeningocele at Cleveland Clinic, contributes to the CDC National Spina Bifida Patient Registry and performs single- and multi-institutional research in urological outcomes for adult patients with myelomeningocele.
As an educator, Dr. Wood has mentored medical students, residents, advanced practice providers and fellows in GU Reconstruction throughout her career. She won the Cleveland Clinic Enterprise PA/NP Educator of the Year award (2016) and the Urology Residency Teacher of the Year award in 2018. In addition, she spearheaded the AUA-Cleveland Clinic Advanced Practice Provider education modules (2016-17) and serves as a contributing member of the SIU Academy Education Committee.
In addition to full time clinical responsibilities and resident teaching, Dr. Wood has been continuously involved in clinical research and her work has been published in a number of peer reviewed journals. She is presently section editor for Urology and recently served as associate editor for Urology Practice. She has written 11 book chapters related to her specialty areas, and co-edited the first textbook on Urological Congenitalism. As a member of the Physician Advisory Group of the SBA, she served on the urology care guidelines committee and chaired the mens’ health guidelines committee. In 2018, she co-chaired an ICUD on Lifelong Care of Individuals with Congenital Urologic Diseases.
