Instructional Course - Requires Course Pass or Individual Course Ticket, Additional Registration Required
The course in Nocturia is intended to present a scheme for evaluation of the patient with bothersome nocturia, designed to allow for rational treatment based upon correct diagnosis. The use of sound general medicine concepts added to the standard urologic armamentarium along with detailed analysis of the micturition diary will result in an understanding of the multifactorial etiologies of nocturia, facilitating their stratification appropriate to a therapeutic strategy. New information will be presented regarding studies of the relationship of nocturia and blood pressure, highlighting evidence linking severe nocturia to early mortality. This data provide compelling reasons to consider nocturia a condition which should be evaluated and treated independent of bother much in the same manner as hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Exciting recent developments in nocturia therapy will be reviewed. Case-based learning will enhance the course’s value.
