Symptoms of burnout are increasing among healthcare providers. This phenomenon has serious implications for patient safety,
occupational health, personal life, and sustainability of the urology workforce. Resilience training and tools to allow urologists to succeed at work are more meaningful now than they have ever been. This course will equip urologists and allied health providers with processes and habits that (1) focus energy on relevant tasks (personal and professional), (2) simplify life without compromising productivity, and (3) effectively eliminate undue stress. The psychology of burnout will be explored and we will present proven methods for developing mindfulness and emotional intelligence. Strategies for managing energy and recharging enthusiasm will be discussed and we will demonstrate a mature framework for priority-driven decision-making for effectiveness in all activities. From mission statements to e-mail, this course intends to touch upon many of the aspects of physician life critical to realizing joy in the workplace and in the home.
