It is paramount that urologists understand the basic fundamentals of prostate imaging and targeted biopsy techniques. During this course, physicians will have the opportunity to ask questions and obtain tips and tricks from some of the international leaders in the field who have helped implement multi-parametric imaging of the prostate. We will review the basics of MR imaging, interpretation, and imaging pitfalls. We will provide hands-on interaction which will include guided case review, practice cases with reviewer explanation and imaging tips and tricks to help optimize MRI results.
The course layout will be similar to the approach of the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) which will include large room format with a leader in the front guiding the urologist through studies. We will also include some basic lectures to open and close the course. A survey of urologists attending the MR US fusion biopsy beginners course at AUA 2016 revealed that < 30% self-reported understanding on interpreting a prostate MRI.
