This course will consist of an in-depth summary of the problem of overdiagnosis in contemporary medicine and oncology. Will also
examine the role of multiparametric MRI and biomarkers in patient selection and decision making. There will be an update on risk
assessment in early prostate cancer, and a discussion of the results of focal therapy, and the relative role of focal therapy vis a vis
surveillance.

 

Learning Objectives:

• Demonstrate confidence and ability to appropriately select patients for active surveillance
• Describe triggers for intervention, including the strengths and limitations of PSA kinetics, and how to use
  these in patient management
• Trace the role of multiparametric MRI in decision making in active surveillance patients
• Analyze the role of focal therapy in patients on surveillance
• Distinguish the controversial role of 5 ARIs in the management of favorable risk prostate cancer
