T. Anthony Anderson, Ph.D., M.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine in the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a clinician scientist with clinical expertise in the fields of pediatric and adult anesthesia and perioperative pain, working as an educator, researcher, and clinician. He has been the principal investigator for multiple successfully completed pediatric and adult clinical trials and was the site investigator for a study funded by a National Science Foundation grant. He has worked on multiple studies investigating the use and potential use of different technologies for clinical purposes, and his current focus is on the use of regional anesthesia and non-opioid pharmacologic agents to improve patient analgesia and safety. Specifically, he is interested in the use of novel technologies and pharmacologic agents to reduce acute pain and the risk of chronic pain, both of which have broad implications for the care of patients after surgery.
