Amirali Salmasi, MD, MSCR, is an Assistant Professor of Urology at UC San Diego. He received his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Then he accepted a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins as a first step towards a career in academic medicine and research. After his research fellowship, he completed a six-year urology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by a three-year Society of Urology Oncology accredited urologic oncology fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles. To further his academic passions, he also completed a Master’s degree at UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
He provides a personalized multidisciplinary approach to deliver the best treatment option for his patients. He performs advanced minimally invasive and complex open surgeries. He is also interested in translational research and clinical trials in bladder cancer, and his hope is to bridge the gap between the bench and clinical research. His commitment to and persistence in research is evident by numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
