I graduated from Leicester Medical School in 1987 and undertook my general surgical and urological training in Plymouth, Southampton and Portsmouth. I obtained Reconstructive Fellowships in the USA and at the Institute of Urology in London, with a further Fellowship in advanced andrological surgery, including prosthetics and female to male gender realignment also at the Institute of Urology. Appointed as a Consultant in 2001 in Portsmouth, I moved to Leicester in 2005 on leaving the Royal Navy after 19 years of service.
I have recently been elected to the office of Vice President of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) and will become President in 2018. I also Chair the East Midlands Regional Training Committee and the East Midlands Penile cancer Supra-network (6.5 million population). I Chaired the European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines Panel in Urological Trauma until 2015 and Examine at the Medical School and Nationally for FRCS(Urol).
