Philip C. Bosch, MD is an Assistant Professor of Urology and Director of the Interstitial Cystitis Clinic at the University of California San Diego. His clinical focus is on improving the quality of life for patients with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS). He has cared for patients with IC/BPS for 37 years. He received his medical degree from State University of New York Upstate Medical University and completed his urology residency at University of California Irvine. His research and publications concern improved treatments for patients with IC/BPS. The most recent publication in European Urology was "A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Trial of Certolizumab Pegol in Women with Refractory Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome." His emphasis in treating IC/BPS is self-help practices and behavior modification techniques. His perspective of the pathophysiology of IC/BPS is that it is an autoimmune disease.
