Peter R. Carroll, MD; MPH is Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology at UCSF and Co –leader of the Prostate Cancer Program in the UCSF - Helen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Center. He holds the Ken and Donna Derr – Chevron and Taube Family Distinguished Professorships. He is an internationally recognized expert on the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer. He has authored over 600 peer – reviewed papers (H index 73) on a range of topics in this field. Since 1995, he has been PI of CaPSURE™, a national disease registry study of over 14,000 men with prostate cancer treated at 40+ sites. At UCSF, he has developed one of the largest research and clinical programs focused on active surveillance for early stage prostate cancer with an emphasis on biomarkers, selection criteria and outcomes. UCSF contributes to and collaborates with others on important national and international registries and studies in this area including the Prostate Cancer Active Surveillance Study (PASS), a large multi-institutional cohort of men on active surveillance, GAP3 a Movember - sponsored international registry of men on active surveillance and PROMISS- Prostate Modeling to Identify Surveillance Strategies.
