James D. Brooks, MD is the Keith and Jan Hurlbut Professor, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the Stanford University School of Medicine, Vice-Chair and Chief of Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology. He is a urologic surgeon whose clinical practice focuses primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. For more than 20 years he has used genetic and genomic approaches to identify candidate biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of urological malignancies. Dr. Brooks has served on national advisory panels, held leadership positions in a number of research consortia, leads several NIH and Department of Defense funded research projects and serves on the editorial board of several journals.
