My name is Dr Atakelet (Ati) Ferede, currently fellow in Kidney Transplantation at National Kidney Transplant Service (NKTS), Beaumont hospital, Dublin, Ireland, which is affliated to Royal College of Surgeons (England).
I completed undergraduate medical school from medical school of Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in 2001. I was executive member of the student union of the University and represented medical students at various academic and non academic capacities. Post internship, I served as a junior doctor at district hospital for a year and half before I received a full scholarship from the Irish Council for International students (ICOS) to complete a Masters degree in public health at the prestigious Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Ireland. I subsequently served as public health expert at various governmental and nongovernmental organizations in Ethiopia. I returned to Ireland in 2007 to persue a training in Surgery. My surgical training involved rotation in general surgery, colorectal surgery, breast & endocrine surgery, urology, vascular surgery, HPB surgery & Liver/Pancreas transplantation. Currently I am completing fellowship in kidney transplantation and organ procurement and due to finish in July 2019.
I am intersted in research in areas of clinical relevance and I claim to have good understanding of epidemiology and statistics with excellent computer skills. I live with my wife and two boys (aged 7 and 5), enjoy swimming in the cold Irish sea and play soccer in my spare time.
