Welcome, friends and colleagues, to the city of lights!
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 33rd Annual AVA Scientific Meeting, as we convene from October 4-9, 2019, at Caesars Palace in beautiful and exhilarating Las Vegas, Nevada. We kick off this event with our pre-conference workshops on October 3, suited for all levels of clinicians – novice to advanced – in both adult and pediatric vascular access care. These workshops are invaluable, as you will take away tools and information to maintain and improve standards and best practices.
Our 2019 main meeting will commence October 4, with our keynote speaker, Dr. Didier Pittet, an infectious diseases expert and director of the Infection Control Programme and WHO Collaborating Centre on Patient Safety, University Hospital of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland. We are honored to have him join us this year.
You should anticipate some surprises, numerous opportunities for networking with experts, vendors and other attendees, discover the latest and greatest in innovation and, of course, surmountable knowledge of best practice in vascular access.
Be certain to download the AVA 2019 app when it becomes available later this summer, as it provides necessary information to all events, networking with attendees, presentation slides, posters, participation in Q & A or surveys and obtaining credit for sessions attended. Post on social media using the hashtag #AVASM19. Don't let what happens in Vegas stay here! Share the splendor of our time here together. We want to see you as you learn and have fun!
It has been my honor and privilege to chair the D-Team this year. They are a phenomenally dedicated group. I would like to personally thank them for working tirelessly to produce this outstanding event. Thank you to AVA and Conference Managers for this production in helping us achieve our goals as clinicians, researchers and educators in improving patient outcomes and experiences in vascular access.
