During this session, clinicians will see pictures of various catheter positionings. The catheter positioning is how the catheter resides inside the vein. With various sizes of PIV catheters, depth and diameter of veins along with various skill of clinicians placing devices, positive patient outcomes fall heavily on the clinician to make appropriate decisions when placing these devices. Just because, we as vascular access specialist, can place a device doesn't mean would should. You will learn how diameter and length are intricate details in placing PIV catheters and how to help protect your patients for phlebitis, infiltrations and other complications.
