CARDIOLOGY RESIDENT
UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA HEART INSTITUTE
University of Ottawa Heart Instute
Dr. Boczar is a third-year Cardiology resident at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI). He completed his medical degree and Internal Medicine training at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Boczar’s research interests are in cardiovascular imaging, and as such he has already made significant contributions to the field. His recent research looking at explanations for the poorer thoracic aortic aneurysm-related outcomes observed in women was the first in the field to demonstrate sex-specific associations of aortic stiffness with thoracic aortic aneurysm growth. He has been recognized for his contributions to the advancement of knowledge in this area with nominations for a Resident Research Award by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (2018 & 2019) and a Young Investigator Award from the American Heart Association (2018) as well as a Young Investigator Award (2019) from the Young Investigator's Forum in Chicago. Dr. Boczar will now be completing dedicated formal research training in Clinical Epidemiology above and beyond his Clinical Residency training through the prestigious Clinician Investigator Program. His work in his graduate degree is set to evaluate the role that inflammation plays on the development and progression of atherosclerotic disease and the impact that inflammation-imaging techniques can play to aid in the discovery and treatment of this inflammation-mediated atherosclerosis.
