Dr. Meyer completed his medical school training at the University of British Columbia and his cardiac surgery residency and PhD training at the University of Alberta. He undertook fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in complex cardiac surgery and at the University of Pennsylvania in surgical management of heart failure.
Primary clinical interests are heart failure, heart and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and surgical therapies for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. He is program director for the residency training program at the University of Alberta
Dr. Meyer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta. Research interests include clinical trials, outcomes research, and rejection in heart and lung transplantation.
