Imaging modalities are very often complementary to one another. Echocardiography is usually first-line in the evaluation of cardiac symptomatology. With the increasing use of cardiovascular MRI, it has become obvious that cardiovascular MRI can have additive value over echocardiography with the potential to improve the diagnostic and decision-making potential of imaging in a number of individual patient scenarios. The purpose of this workshop is to highlight 2 of the areas in which cardiovascular MRI and echocardiography can play complementary roles namely myocarditis and cardiac amyloidosis. In some cases, computed tomography, PET and other modalities can also play a part in clinical decision-making in these diseases. This session is especially important to the audience as Canada works to improve access to all of these modalities in urban centers.
