The Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) published the first heart transplantation guidelines in 2003, and a last update in 2009. Over the past decade, there have been significant practice changing developments in patient evaluation and post-transplant care. The results of the 2019 CCS/CCTN position statement on heart transplantation in Canada will be presented.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

• discuss patient selection criteria for heart transplantation, as defined in the 2019 CCS HTx Position Statement;
• identify transplant issues for selected patient populations, including combined organ transplant, ACHD, and highly sensitized; and
• discuss post-transplant surveillance management.
