Director of Clinical Education and Training, Addiction Consult Team
Mladen Nisavic is Director of Clinical Education and Training with the Addiction Consult Team (ACT) at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), as well as the attending psychiatrist with the Addiction consult service and Burns/Trauma Psychiatry Consultation Service at MGH. In addition to his robust clinical practice with both consult teams, Dr. Nisavic has a strong commitment to trainee education and works closely with Harvard medical students, internal medicine and psychiatry residents, and addiction medicine fellows. His commitment has resulted in numerous local invited presentations on addiction-related topics, as well as the Stanley M. Wyman Teaching Award presented by MGH house-staff. Furthermore, Dr. Nisavic has been an integral member in hospital-based quality improvement projects centered at furthering care of patients with substance use disorders (including work on topics such as perioperative pain management and alcohol withdrawal recognition/treatment), and is the first author of a number of manuscripts, as well as book chapters on treatment and diagnosis of substance use disorders. In addition to his SUDs work , Dr. Nisavic has been working closely with the MGH Burns/Trauma team, and has recently published a manuscript on self-inflicted burn injuries.
