Jilei Shan has been with the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts for 11 years, is currently a project engineer in the wastewater collection systems section and is responsible for O&M of the Districts’ 46 pumping plants, development, design, and management of capital improvement projects, and emergency responses. Prior to the pumping plant engineer position, he was a project engineer in the Districts’ Solid Waste Management Department and was responsible for wide range of solid waste management projects including landfilling, composting, and solid waste incineration. He is also actively involved in research studies such as refuse to energy, zero waste technologies, landfill gas collection and emissions control, food waste composting, and odor control. He has earned a B.S. in Geology, a M.S. in Material Science, and a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
