Nefeli Ioannou (B.S. '19, M.S.'21) is a studying mechanical engineering and specializing in energy systems at Stanford University. During the course of last summer, she worked as an Impact Fellow with Stanford's TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy where she explored the technical, economic and regulatory aspects of the adoption of renewable natural gas (RNG) in California, with particular focus on the pathways to facilitate pipeline injection as well as electricity generation from RNG coming from landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and dairies. Her team produced a comprehensive report which included technical as well as regulatory and policy recommendations to relevant stakeholders in both the private and the public sectors, which was upon completion, was presented to California state legislators in the California Senate.
