Joyce Lehman, P.E. is a Senior Engineer with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. She received her B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UCLA and her M.S. in Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley. She has been involved in the water quality, regulatory, and treatment components of the Regional Recycled Water Program since its inception through the present. In her current role with Metropolitan’s Water Quality Section, she is responsible for ensuring water quality regulatory compliance at the F. E. Weymouth Water Treatment Plant, including optimization of full-scale conventional treatment with ozonation and biological filtration. Additional relevant experience includes pilot- and bench-scale studies of alternative disinfectants for DBP control using granular activated carbon, dissolved air flotation, enhanced coagulation, and magnetic ion exchange pretreatment, as well as membrane treatment in drinking water applications.
