Many of California’s enclosed bays and estuaries and inland water bodies are seasonally impacted by excessive nutrients, in combination with other factors. Nutrients are discharged to surface waters through water resource recovery facilities and runoff from agricultural and urban land. This presentation will describe these impacts and various approaches underway in California to develop and implement nutrient management plans and policies.

Understand sources and impacts of nutrient discharges on enclosed bays and estuaries, inland water bodies, and aquifers.
Understand watershed nutrient management programs being developed and implemented throughout California.
