Many of California’s enclosed bays and estuaries and inland water bodies are seasonally impacted by excessive nutrients, in combination with other factors. Nutrients are discharged to surface waters through water resource recovery facilities and runoff from agricultural and urban land. This presentation will describe these impacts and various approaches underway in California to develop and implement nutrient management plans and policies.
