Predictive Maintenance: See Into the Future
CWEA: 1 Contact Hour
Practice Area: Operations & Maintenance
Modern day physical assets are far more sophisticated than those designed decades ago and are now available with huge data acquisition capabilities. To increase asset reliability, the maintenance department can capitalize on these new advances in modern technology to make cost effective decisions. Some of the applications include vibration analysis, lube oil analysis, and infrared thermography. Information obtained by these technologies provides vital data to determine the health, performance, and maintenance requirements of an asset. This strategy has also proved to reduce downtime and increased the overall availability of critical assets by identifying key failure modes and defects in the system.
This presentation will highlight the Inland Empire Utilities Agency’s journey in finding success in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) through the implementation of Predictive Maintenance Program (PdM). It also identifies some of the problems plaguing the modern maintenance department, specifically in a wastewater treatment and reclamation environment. It provides a practical solution to address those problems through training and use of modern condition monitoring technologies.
