To meet the ambitious goals set by the OneNYC of 80% reduction in GHG, energy neutrality at the 14 WRRFs, and zero waste sent to landfills, DEP has embarked on a three-year demonstration project to evaluate the logistics, benefits and impacts of adding food waste to Newtown Creek’s anaerobic digesters.

After completing this session, participants will be able to identify potential operational impacts from codigestion.
After completing this session, participants will be able to describe how anaerobic digester gas quantity and quality vary based on source separated organics feed stock composition.
After completing this session, participants will be able to list the multiple cost considerations for developing a source separated organics tipping fee.
