Our wastewater infrastructure was not designed to handle flushable wipes popular today. The presentation will review the wipes market and discuss technical options for pumps and grinders to pre-condition these difficult solids in collection systems. The goal is to provide information on the various options available to battle these wipes.

Learner Outcomes:

• Articulate why disposable wipes and other non-dispersibles are a problem for collection systems.
• Describe the different solutions available to address the problems that disposable wipes cause for collection systems.
• Describe why chopping, grinding and shredding disposable wipes do not always prevent problems downstream in wastewater system.
