Early diagnosis of CKD may be associated with improved patient outcomes. Use of longitudinal clinicopathologic data to detect trends — even within the normal range — will facilitate early diagnosis. Diagnostic criteria for IRIS Stage 1 and early Stage 2 CKD will be emphasized. Attendees will have a better understanding of how to use serum creatinine, SDMA, and urine protein/creatinine ratio to diagnose early CKD in dogs and cats.
