Practice Management
90th FVMA Annual Conference

It is a proven fact that the most successful veterinary practices are those that have learned to let their staff do their jobs. How much does a DVM make when he is reading a fecal or taking a blood sample? On the other hand, learning to release responsibilities to our staff is quite difficult. What is an OPN (Outpatient Nurse), and what can they do to add to your net? What does "Train To Trust" really mean, and how can you do it? Using a OPN lets a doctor focus on doctoring and a tech focus on teching. What a concept! In human health care, more and more frequently you will see the MD have an assistant in the room with them. In veterinary medicine, this has been seen as a luxury and an expense without financial return. Au contraire, an exam room advocate will make the client and patient experience run more smoothly, help you to avoid missed charges AND could help with medical recordkeeping. The ERA you won’t be able to live without one after this discussion.
