Dr. Boris Guiu is Chair of the Department of Radiology at the St-Eloi University Hospital (Montpellier, France) and Professor of Radiology at the University of Montpellier, France. His major research interest is interventional imaging of the liver with a special interest in intra-arterial and percutaneous treatments in high-end multimodal interventional suite.
Dr. Guiu received his MD from the University of Burgundy, Dijon, Medical School, in 2009 and his PhD in the same University in 2012. He was resident in Radiology at University Hospital of Dijon and Gustave-Roussy, Villejuif. He completed a one-year fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland.
Dr. Guiu is member of several international and national societies, such as SIO, CIRSE, ESR (European Society of Radiology), and SFR (French Radiological Society). He is a faculty member of ECIO, GEST, CIRSE and WCIO. He served on the Editorial Board of European Radiology and is a reviewer for many journals including CVIR, European Radiology, Journal of Hepatology and Lancet Oncology.
Dr. Guiu has published more than 160 peer-reviewed papers and has been the coordinator of several phase I and phase II studies in the field of liver interventional oncology, and especially in chemoembolization of HCC. More recently, he described the liver venous deprivation technique, combining both portal and hepatic vein embolization for liver preparation before major hepatectomy.
Innovative and longstanding research on the treatment of liver tumors has ever been a pursuit in his academic career.
