Lieko Earle is a Senior Researcher in the Buildings & Thermal Sciences Center at NREL, where she leads the Residential Buildings team’s field test efforts. Lieko’s research centers around advanced monitoring techniques and experiment design for field evaluations of innovative residential efficiency technologies, including home energy management systems (HEMS) and smart appliances that interact intelligently with buildings and their occupants to optimize comfort, convenience, and energy use. Her interests include user-friendly strategies and tools for reducing the energy consumption of miscellaneous electric loads (MELs). She holds an ScB in Physics from Brown University and a PhD in Physics from the University of Colorado.
