Kris Schoenow is the Executive Director of the Bureau of Community Action and Economic Opportunity in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, administering the Community Services Block Grant and the Weatherization Assistance Program, She is a Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) and recently has been elected as the Co-Chair of the National DATA Taskforce.
Kris, has received the James Gardner Weatherization Award from the National Association for State Community Services Programs during its 2019 annual Conference. Schoenow was recognized for re-energizing the weatherization network of managers, contractors and crews through a weatherization assistance program vision change for Michigan. This is taking Michigan’s Weatherization Assistance Program to the next level by ensuring high quality work and performance, expanding and enhancing the state office’s support and creating and maintaining a state-of-the-art weatherization training center, the Michigan Training and Education Center (MiTEC). The award also recognizes her leadership and communication skills.
