The Smart Home
New energy technologies and their savings opportunities can leave contractors wondering how to best take advantage of these innovations. Likewise, homeowner struggles to navigate the home performance process leads to contractor’s struggle to increase sales. This session will share results and lessons learned from a pilot investigating how insights from smart thermostat data, smart home monitor, could be used to augment customer and contractor experiences before, during, and after home energy assessments, customer engagement, behavior. Session participants will also learn about a newer entry to the “smart home” field – automated window shades, their energy savings potential, and a newly released way to assess window shade energy performance through the Attachment Energy Rating Council (AERC).
These newer strategies for energy savings may be the next frontier in smart home performance.
