Heatpumps, especially the highly efficient mini/multi split systems (“ductless”), have seen rapid growth in consumer interest and utility efficiency programs are banking on huge energy savings due to the capabilities of the inverter compressor. While sales are growing at a furious pace, there remains a gap in knowledge with this technology across the industry. Hunger is growing for more information typically not addressed in short information sessions. This session will bridge the gap by drawing out audience information needs and provide answers across a broad set of topics that include: current misconceptions, industry trends, diverse and flexible applications in retrofit scenarios, consumer interest in whole home solutions, multifamily and manufactured home opportunities, strategies and HERS impacts in high performance homes, examples of problem installations and best practice installations techniques, cold climate performance, and a summary of industry research from across the country.
